ABOUT McCAULEY
Rooted in Louisville. Growing since 2021.
McCauley Williams Adams
I grew up in Louisville, KY near the Ohio River, gardening alongside my mother. Those early moments — kneeling in the soil, pressing snapdragons into the earth, watching her parterre rose garden grow season after season into something extraordinary — taught me to pay close attention to the natural world, to care for living things, and to leave every place better than I found it.
Before founding Ramble on Rose, I built a career in the wine & spirits industry, where I honed my understanding of place, brand, and the sensory power of a well-made environment. That professional background — the brand-builder's eye trained to see how space shapes experience — is inseparable from the way I approach garden design.
In 2021, a fellow landscape designer looked at my work and told me to quit my job. I wasn't sure I believed her. But the seed was planted. Ramble on Rose Garden Design grew from that moment — and from a lifelong conviction that the outdoor spaces homeowners live with every day deserve as much care and intention as the spaces within.
Environmental stewardship isn't a marketing point — it's woven into everything I do. I'm a founding member of the White Oak Initiative, served for six years as a Director on the Dendrifund board, served on the Advisory Committee for Louisville's Urban Forestry Master Plan, and am a proud member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD).
Whether you're dreaming of a full-property transformation or simply a quiet corner that finally feels like yours — I'd love to hear about your space. Let's make something beautiful together.
“McCauley transformed our sad backyard into a charming oasis of year-round beauty that we enjoy every day in every season. She was with us every step, from the design and hardscape to the selection and placement of trees, shrubs and flowers, mindful of our desire for mostly native plants that deter rabbits and attract pollinators. The bees, butterflies, gold finch and hummingbirds are grateful and so are we. Friendly, knowledgeable, and creative, she is a delight to work with and we highly recommend her.”
